Top 10 Best Dirt Bike Brands of 2018
If you’re into dirt biking, you can find it challenging looking for the best brands judging by the wide variety of dirt bike available. You need to know what to avoid and what to go for. Read on to know the top-ranked dirt bike brands of 2018.
The following brands are my favorite and they rank from #1 to #6 and tracks with my personal impression.
This is perhaps the most admired brand you will come across. KTM has made a name for itself in the market. KTM bikes come with innovative features, which include a removable seat, and an extensive variety of bikes that allows you to find one that fits your preferences. In addition, KTM bikes are the lightest in their class and are designed with easy-access air filters and removable seats. The 250 and the 450SX-F are among the lightest brands.
Yamaha has the longest-standing dirt biking reputation and has been in the industry for the longest time. Though not as innovative as KTM, Yamaha is still producing some of the best bikes. The 250F model is particularly popular and has been crowned the top 250F for four years by the Dirt Bike Magazine.
Beta is an Italian dirt bike brand that has begun catching more and more in the US. Beta has had a long history in dirt biking and was reported to produce several trial models in the 70s and 80s. Recently, they have begun focusing on off-road race as well as trial bikes. Beta was reported to use KTM engines until 2004, but currently, they are making their own engines.
It’s surprising to see how Kawasaki dirt bikes have gained a tremendous cult following. It almost suggests that when someone likes this green model, they are not likely to be swayed by another brand. One thing stands out with the Kawasaki; pricing. Kawasaki offers the most affordable dirt bikes and that makes it unique especially now when most dirt bike brands are close to each other making it hard to differentiate.
Honda has built its reputation for many years for its small engines. Although they lag behind other competitive dirt bike brands, they are known to produce good dirt bike brands. Honda produces some of the best 50cc dirt bikes at an affordable cost. The two-stroke Honda CR was popular in the motocross and supercross until 2007, but recently, Honda has shifted to the four-stroke CRF engines as the future of the 2-stroke engine is in doubt.
Suzuki dirt bike brands are currently lagging behind in their technology. Suzuki has failed to roll out innovative models. Their bikes are overweight and their new model, the 2018 Suzuki RM-Z450 still is not designed with an electric start. Suzuki company has a lot of potentials to produce even better bikes, but the future is not promising if the current trend holds.
The CCM dirt bikes are the most unusual yet stylish dirt bikes on the road. They feature a half flat seat which keeps the rear tire in the open. The body is extremely strong, built out of steel frames. The features of the bike include keyless ignition, leather seats, full LED headlights, Maxxis-tubed flat track race-tire and a dual exhaust system.
These bikes are extremely powerful with 600cc of power on your hand. They are mostly for experienced riders and those who require it for professional purpose. The style factor and the stunning looks are the main reasons for the popularity of CCM bikes.
How to select the best dirt bike?
The above list doesn’t mean that these are the only dirt bike brands you should go for. Just because your favorite brand comes up with a bike you’re looking for, it does not imply that it’s the best model. You need to do your assignment well. Check through all the bikes in your preferred category and go through their features equally. Come up with a pros and cons list of what you like and what you dislike about each model. This way, you’ll find it easy selecting your favorite dirt bike.
